From drastically different worlds, they have every reason to hate one another, but theres so much to be gained by working together.Jaime thinks he can uncover the blackmail plot against him by pretending to be Angelas boyfriend, while Angela is looking to rebel against her cold family. The fake relationship would be far more to their advantage if they werent quickly finding themselves more interested in one another than either of their goals....they shouldnt be loversIt was supposed to be a temporary ruse for the both of them, but there’s no controlling infatuation.---No woman had ever looked so confused by being hit on before.

He had to grin at her reaction. “You’re welcome.”She continued to stand there for a moment with an uncertain look on her face, before taking a step closer and offering her hand. “My name’s Angela Lloyd-Whitney. And you are?”That name triggered a memory. She had glasses on the last time he had seen her and her face had been all red from crying.

That flaming hair had been pulled back in a severe bun. It was the same woman, though. She had been talking to Taggart after his sister died. Dealing with other people’s emotions—or even his own—had never been particularly easy for Jaime, so he had steered clear. He was glad of that now. It made it easier to hate the entire family. He drew back and spat on the ground rather than take her hand. “No thanks.

When you see your cousin, tell him to go to hell for me.”Her hand dropped like a stone and he saw her eyes narrow slightly. After a moment, comprehension dawned. Her mouth opened, then closed with a click of teeth. When she spoke again, her voice was carefully neutral. “I don’t know what happened with you and my cousin, but I certainly didn’t have anything to do with it.”With that, she turned away from him to continue down the path.

While decisions were being made about the mission, they were all on leave to do as they wanted. As the spoiled little rich boy among the group, it had seemed natural to assume Taggart had flown off somewhere for vacation. Perhaps not, though.“Don’t suppose he’s in town too, is he? I’d love to pay Taggart a visit.”She paused in her walking and turned to look at him again.

A faint frown pursed her lips. “Yes, he is.” Something was working behind her eyes. He could almost see the gears turning. “If you really wanted to pay him a visit, I could arrange that.”
